This photo exemplifies why I love creating patches. The crew of Artemis II are absolutely wearing all the patches from that career that have signifcant, deep, earned meaing to them. They wear them with pride. Each design has significant meaning to both the individual, the crew and the team that got them there. Godspeed, Artemis II.

Apollo 6 Commemorative Patch

Apollo 6, launched on April 4, 1968, was the second uncrewed test flight of the Apollo–Saturn V system and a critical milestone on the path to landing humans on the Moon. Its primary mission objectives were to demonstrate the Saturn V launch vehicle’s structural integrity, test the command and service module’s heat shield during a high-speed reentry simulating a lunar return, and verify mission operations prior to crewed flights. Although the mission experienced significant anomalies—including severe pogo oscillations during ascent and the failure of two second-stage engines—the Saturn V successfully placed Apollo 6 into Earth orbit, and the spacecraft completed a successful high-energy reentry. By proving the robustness of the spacecraft and revealing launch vehicle issues that could be corrected, Apollo 6 played a decisive role in validating the Saturn V and clearing the way for the first crewed Apollo mission later that year.

This patch commemorates the milestones of this mission. There 's a hidden lyre to represent the god Apollo.
