Retrorocket Emblems' Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many of peach patch does RR produce?

A: It depends on the nature of the patch. Usually patches are produced in initial quantities of 50, ohters are produced in quantities of 100.

Q: Once a patch is sold out, will it be re-stocked?

A: It depends on the particular partch. Most of our early patches were produced with a strict limit of 50 paches. These patches were issued with a "x of 50" hand-written on the back. Unfortunately, these early issue patches cannot be re-stocked due to their stated limited edition status. Most of my modern patches have no constraint and will be re-stocked if demand commands another run.

Q: How do you decide which replicas to produce?

A: Creating a wothy reproduction is a combination of 50% communication and 50% skill on the part of the emboiderer. I am essentially a facilitator. The artwork, obviously, has already been done, so it's my job to ensure I communicate the exact requirements to the embroiderer to accomplish an accurate reproduction.  I am critical of detail almost to a fault. A replica patch will take as many as 8 samples to ensure accuracy. We are talking individual stitches, angle of fill and color details. It takes a long time to establish the needed raport with an embroiderer to learn the right way to communicate with them. It's a 100% team effott. Having said that, I choose to create replicas when I am satisfied that a multihead embroidery machine can properly fulfill a vintage look. There are replica patches that are going to be nearly impossible to accurately replicate in the 2020s, some examples:

  • Apollo 15 - Gold and Silver "XV" - I don't think I could ever achieve the necesary detail of the lunar craters as the original. Even A-B Emblem's current souvenir offering does a poor job.
  • Apollo 8 Crew Patch - Multi-head fill for the blue background would be a big challenge to accompllish
  • Gemini 9 and 10 - Accurate background fill

Q: How do I submit a patch idea to Retrorocket Emblems?

A: Feel free to send an email to liem@retrorocketemblems.com.

Q: How does your postage refunds work?

A: I use a very simple cart system from Paypal. It's not very intelligent and it does not understand combined postage at this time. So, if you order multiple items and the shipping is stated to be $4 for each item, I will refund you those additional postage fees down to just the one $4 fee. I usually perform this refund around the time I prepare for shipping. I plan to update my cart in 2026 to support combined shipping.
